Super Bowl LIII: Georgia Power is Ready

Getting Ready For the Big Game

Georgia Power has been hard at work making sure everything is all set for the big game this weekend. The new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia will play host to the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, and the last thing everyone wants is a repeat of 2013’s "Blackout Bowl" in New Orleans.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium has over 1,800 wireless access points, 4,000 miles of fiber-optic cable, and 2,500 flat-screen TVs spread throughout the stadium, but it still manages to use 29% less energy than other buildings of the same size. The 4,000 solar PV panels helped earn a LEED Platinum Certification from the United States Green Building Council and allow for up to nine Atlanta Falcons games to be powered by nothing but renewable energy during the year. Arthur Blank, Atlanta Falcons Owner and Chairman says it best himself.

“We set out to build a venue that would not only exceed expectations, but also push the limits of what was possible in terms of stadium design, fan experience and sustainability. We set a goal of achieving the highest LEED rating because it was the right thing to do for our city and the environment. With this achievement, we have a powerful new platform to showcase to the industry and to our fans that building sustainably and responsibly is possible for a venue of any type, size and scale."  -Arthur Blank

These are all just parts to one of the most advanced stadiums in the world that generates 1.6 million kilowatts of power every hour from the solar panels alone. Georgia Power has outdone themselves and revolutionized the way stadiums will be made from this point on. This weekend’s Super Bowl will be the biggest event the stadium has hosted thus far, and you can be sure the people at Georgia Power are ready for it.

Honoring Achievement With Custom Coins

When we were contacted about creating a custom coin in honor of this year's Super Bowl, our team was immediately excited to set to work. We provided everything Georgia Power needed to create a personal and meaningful design to commemorate all of the hard work leading up to the big game.

All of our customers receive free artwork and revisions on for every coin, and our art team was happy to run through several different proofs before all parties were happy with the final design. The coin has a classic, almost rustic appeal with antique silver plating and an emphasis on black colorfill. A clear epoxy coating was put over the Georgia Power logo to give it a glossy shine and slick texture against the otherwise metal coin.

Corporations and companies of all different shapes and sizes work with our team to create custom challenge coins with branded artwork. When handed out to a team, they come to represent a sense of shared experience and camaraderie. For the people receiving these coins, each one is a physical memento of all the effort and innovation that went into making the incredible stadium and this weekend’s Super Bowl a reality.

Same Sponsor Different Stadium

Mercedes-Benz sponsors two stadiums in the NFL and, for some, memories of the 2013 blackout at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans may still be fresh enough to cause worry. While we can’t predict the future, we are confident that the new Mercedez-Benz Stadium will fair much better for this year's Super Bowl. Georgia Power has achieved incredible feats creating the Falcon’s new stadium, and we are honored to have been a part of its young history by making Super Bowl LIII challenge coins.

If you or your team need a set of custom coins, remember to check us out! As for the game this weekend, may the best team win!
