On the Pacific front, it was the NOAA Corps ship USS Pathfinder who paved the way through the Philippines in Douglas MacArthur's island-hopping war. The charts produced by their leading the way ensured the safety of all other United States vessels, and the NOAA Corps was heavily involved in the safe transportation of troops throughout the effort.
The NOAA Corps has always been quick to drop everything and join the fight when our country needed them most in war. And in peacetime, the fight doesn't stop.
