Getting Ready For Convention Season With Custom Coins

Making Your Mark With Challenge Coins

Convention season is here, and centers all over the country are filling with working professionals, fans, retailers and spectators from all different sectors imaginable. Just last week, Star Wars Celebration gripped the nation with the latest news on Episode IX and everything else in Star Wars entertainment, but the show is coming to a close. Today, however, another convention of a different kind is just beginning. The Texas Police Chiefs Association is going on through April 18, 2019, providing unique networking and training opportunities for police chiefs from all over the state of Texas.

While these two conferences serve a completely different demographic, they do have one thing in common: challenge coins. Conventions and conferences come in all different shapes and sizes, just like challenge coins, and the people attending the talks, shows and panels often bring custom coins to commemorate the occasion and to leave a lasting impression with the people they meet.

Chief Rob Severance and the Texas Police Chiefs Association

For this year's Texas Police Chiefs Association conference, Rob Severance designed these coins to bring along and hand out. The artwork and shape are inspired by the shoulder patch of the Cleburne Police, and the official badges and seals of the Cleburne Police department, the FBI National Academy where Severance went to school, and the seal of the Texas Police Chief Association.

Sometimes, custom coins like these are made as a meaningful substitute for business cards and handed out at conferences, but Severance is using them to rally support and interest in his department and the association by promoting the coins on social media. On his personal Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages, Severance offered to award a free coin to a random person who helped share and retweet his coin with their friends. This is a great example of how coins are used to raise awareness for an organization, event or cause before they are even handed out in person.

Severance was able to get well over the 500 retweets he asked for. During the conference this week, he will be handing out his remaining coins to other police chiefs and law enforcement officials during the training courses and networking events at the conference. One of the most important parts of the conference is the networking opportunities with police chiefs from all over the state of Texas. Making a lasting impression on peers working in different offices is important for future interdepartmental cases and for building strong relationships with law enforcement officials outside of one’s own office.

While it’s not possible to make friends with everyone at a gathering as large as the Texas Police Chief Association, Severance is sure to make a lasting impression on everyone he meets with these custom coins.

Creating Your Own Custom Coins For Convention Season

The challenge coins Severance designed with our team are a clear display of his hometown, Cleburne Texas, and are perfect for helping him leave his mark among everyone attending the conference. As he has already shown, the coins are perfect for spreading the word and raising social awareness for his department, but custom coins are used in all sorts of other types of conventions and conferences as well.

Unique challenge coins are changing hands on the convention floor of conferences all over the country. Each has a unique sense of character and heritage based on the experiences of the creator, and are often inspired by the event itself as well. Whether you expect to attend next year’s Texas Police Chiefs Association conference, next year’s Star Wars Celebration, or any other kind of conference, our Signature Coins team will be here to help you make the perfect design. Send us your ideas today, and we can get started molding your custom coins.
