Rodeo Belt Buckles

Big decorated belt buckles are one of the most iconic elements of our conception of rodeo cowboys. Out in rodeo country, belt buckles are more than a practical tool to keep your pants up, they’re the pride and joy of their wearers. At any rodeo, cowboys and cowgirls alike proudly display decorated belt buckles proclaiming their wearer’s name, initials, or favorite brand. Centrally worn on a rodeo rider’s body and intentionally crafted in large noticeable sizes, well-decorated belt buckles are one of the first things a cowboy or cowgirl expects you to notice when meeting them for the first time.

Rodeo riders prize their belt buckles as an invaluable part of cowboy fashion. Their belt buckles represent an extension of who they are and what they value printed upon their central bodies. Like a favorite t-shirt, belt buckles are especially prized when covered in the symbols of a rider’s favorite brands. Some rodeo riders wear their buckles with a U.S. flag emblazoned upon it to demonstrate their patriotic fervor, other riders have custom buckles made with their names or initials, almost like a unique ID.

Whether you’re looking for a unique gift or special means to show off your personal brand, Signature Coins has your back with years of experience designing and building custom-made metal belt buckles. We are enthusiastic with our craft and experienced in creating unique one of a kind products that stand out at a rodeo.

Trust us to cinch your pants and we assure you’ll buckle up with pride.

Trophy Belt Buckles Not Trophy Cups at the Rodeo

Performing exceptionally at a rodeo doesn’t earn its participants a trophy cup like a game of hockey or football. When a cowboy rides well, they’re awarded special trophy belt buckles uniquely made for each event and emblazoned with the competition’s name and their rider’s achievement for all to see. Hundreds of live rodeo events are organized and held all over the United States. Proving yourself at one of these competitions might earn a hefty cash reward going up to six figures that’ll keep you riding, but what is prized above all else for many participants is the chance to win and wear an ornate rodeo belt proclaiming your skills to the world.

Exceptional riders may win an exceptional belt buckle performing in any of the following events:

  • Bareback Riding - Bareback riders earn trophy belt buckles by riding a horse called a “bronc” or bronco using only a leather rigging as it tries to throw the rider off.
  • Steer Wrestling - Considered the quickest and most dangerous rodeo event, steer wrestling requires riders known as “bulldoggers” to leap off the back of a horse and wrestling a neighboring steer to the ground while both rider and steer are in motion.
  • Calf Roping - Trophy belt buckles are earned here by performing a timed event requiring a rider lasso a calf while mounted on a horse and then quickly dismounting and tying the calf up to restrain it.
  • Saddle Bronc - Considered the most iconic rodeo event, saddle bronc belt buckles are earned by staying atop a bucking horse using a specialized saddle with no riding horn.
  • Barrel Racing - Trophy belt buckles for this event are earned by riders attempting to complete a cloverleaf pattern course around a series of three preset barrels.
  • Bull Riding - Another one of the classic rodeo events, bull riding requires bull riders to stay atop a bucking bull with only one hand for eight seconds.
  • Team Roping - A team event requiring a pair of riders cooperating together to rope and capture a fleeing steer.
  • Pole bending - Finally, trophy belt buckles can be earned by performing well at a timed event where a rider takes a horse running through a weaving path through six poles lined up.
