Coronado Navy Base Challenge Coins

The Largest Naval Command in the Southwest Deserves Coronado Navy Base Challenge Coins

While it’s true that sailors in the U.S. Navy are trained at the Naval Station Great Lakes, hundreds of miles away from the ocean, that shouldn’t suggest that the greatest strength of the U.S. Navy is found on a string of lakes. With the task of protecting the country’s shoreline, the largest Naval bases can still be found in the oceans off the U.S. coasts. The largest of these bases in the southwestern region is the Coronado Navy Base. A consolidated Navy installation encompassing eight military facilities, Coronado dominates the San Diego area and accounts for nearly 30% of the area’s workforce. The men, women and families living on the base feel a large amount of pride in the Navy, and their loyalty is best rewarded with Navy challenge coins

Signature Coins is dedicated to crafting unique and personal challenge coins for every branch of the U.S. armed forces and for any and every occasion imaginable. The difficult work of defending our country and standing up for our ideals is not work that should ever go unappreciated. Custom challenge coins are a classic way of measuring and acknowledging achievements and marking milestones in a sailor’s career. With that in mind, the least we feel that we can do to honor our men and women in uniform is present them with the highest quality Coronado Navy Base challenge coins on the market and provide the best customer service imaginable.

Displaying Your Coronado Navy Base Challenge Coins With Pride

San Diego, California is a unique place, and producing custom challenge coins that reflect the distinct aspects of the city is something we take very seriously. But the creation and design of the coins aren’t where the process ends. Another consideration for your coins is how best to display them once they’ve been developed.

As the largest Naval powerhouse in southwest, Coronado Navy Base challenge coins deserve nothing but the best in presentation options. When you place your order, consider these unique display choices offered with every custom challenge coin order:

  • PVC Pouch — Transparent for easy viewing and acid-free for safe, long-term storage, the classic PVC pouch is offered for FREE with every order.
  • Coin Capsule — Hard, crystal clear and smooth to the touch, the cover and base of the coin capsule snap together firmly to form a perfect seal of protection for your challenge coin.
  • Plastic Stand — An elegant high-quality display stand for military challenge coins, corporate coins or antique coins, the plastic stand is the go-to method for setting your coin on display on a desk or in a display case.
  • Acrylic Case — With a velvet lined interior and hard plastic display cover to keep your coin protected, the acrylic case combines display functionality with refined elegance.
  • Velvet Pouch — For a more personal touch, these black velvet drawstring pouches are easy to use but elegant at the same time.
  • Velvet Case — A black velvet finish covers the outside of the case while inside is a recessed 1 9/16'' circle cutout that will perfectly fit and protect standard challenge coins.

Each display option presents unique benefits for showing off your custom challenge coin, and there’s no wrong choice. Whichever option you choose to go with, your sailors will be proud of the challenge coin and presentation option given to them. Eight Different Installations, One Cohesive Unit

As a consolidated Navy installation, Coronado Navy Base is the sum of its parts. One of the reasons for its exceptional size is because the base is comprised of eight different installations all together.

The specific installations making up the core of Coronado Navy Base include:

  • Naval Air Station North Island — As its name implies, NASNI is located on the north end of the island. The installation is the home to several aircraft carriers, nearly all of the Pacific Fleet's helicopter squadrons and several fixed-wing squadrons.
  • Camp Morena — The newest installation on Coronado, the camp is a training facility which used to be occupied by the California National Guard before being given to the U.S. Navy.
  • Naval Amphibious Base (NAB), Coronado — The only Naval amphibious base on the west coast, the NAB features unique topography, and on-base facilities that encompass a critical area for amphibious and clandestine training in support of littoral, unconventional and special warfare operations.
  • Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach — Formerly known as Naval Air Station Imperial Beach, NOLF IB is a facility for helicopters.
  • Camp Michael Monsoor Mountain Warfare Training Center, La Posta — The camp is used for mountain warfare training. This site is exceptionally important because of its unique physical characteristics similar to many foreign countries.
  • Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF), San Clemente Island — One of the primary military functions of San Clemente Island has been to support research and development of many of the Navy's weapon systems.
  • Silver Strand Training Complex — Formerly known as the Naval Radio Receiving Facility (NRRF), the Silver Strand Training Complex has become the premier training facility for the military's special forces.
  • SERE Training Facility Warner Springs — Located in a remote area near the community of Warner Springs in the northeastern San Diego County, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape [SERE] training is conducted here.

Coronado Navy Base challenge coins can be designed in a manner that specifies any one of these installations or features all eight for a more holistic approach.
