Continuing a Challenge Coin Legacy Beyond Service

For a number of soldiers, leaving the service and becoming a veteran can be a time filled with uncertainty. After years of regimented service, entering the working world again, or otherwise having to find their own way, can be a daunting prospect. For a lot of these men and women, nearly a lifetime of service has primarily left them suited for even more service. That’s where organizations like the American Legion come in.

The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization. Their dedication to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs throughout communities, advocating patriotism and honor, and promoting strong national security set them apart from other veteran organizations with a primary focus on helping and serving other veterans. But don’t be confused, the American Legion helps veterans too. They just do so much more than that as well.

For the members of the American Legion, challenge coins are something they’re greatly familiar with from their time in the Armed Forces. As they move into this next phase of their lives, the tradition can take on a new meaning. The coins are less likely to symbolize valour on the battlefield and career achievement, and more likely to showcase the important work they do with the legion and belonging to this new team.

We’ve been lucky enough to design and create a number of challenge coins for the legion, and we’re always happy to help bring their interesting and unique ideas to life.

 Getting the Symbols Right

One of the things that comes with creating custom coins for military branches, companies and other longstanding organizations is making sure that their logos, insignia and other branding elements are exactly right in the final product. Something like the emblem for the U.S. Marines has an important place in American history, and getting some aspect of the design wrong isn’t an option.

The same can be said for the emblem of the American legion which is present in a number of the coins we’ve created over the years. In an effort to ensure we get these design elements right each time, clear images of the emblems are kept on file indefinitely. This means that repeat customers don’t have to worry about delivering the images of the emblems to us, and also that new customers from other posts don’t have to worry about our ability to create exactly what they’re looking for.

In addition to the look of an emblem, we also go out of our way to make sure we perfectly match the exact brand colors of our customers through the Pantone Color Matching System. In this way, each customer can rest assured that their final product will come out exactly as intended.

Making Sure Location Matters

The American Legion is an international organization of over 2 million members and 55 departments worldwide. There is a department for each of the 50 states in America, and one each in France, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Philippines, and the District of Columbia. Worldwide, there are over 13,000 posts run by volunteers promoting social change and veteran affairs.

Designs often allude to individual teams and departments by incorporating unique designations, locational artwork, and team emblems. They are symbols of the efforts of each team within the Legion and represent their victories and future goals.

Riding With the Legion

Signature Coins is no stranger to motorcycle clubs. One of the groups organized within the American Legion is the American Legion Riders. This group of licensed bikers get together in their respective states and organize group rides. They also aren’t strangers to ordering custom challenge coins to represent membership.
Where other American Legion challenge coins focus on messages of thanks to their members and the people helping them accomplish their goals, the American Legion Riders coins are a celebration of the post location and the fun of riding. With their stark black backgrounds and unique color designs, the coins for the American Legion Riders never fail to impress.

Considering all of the amazing work the American Legion does, it’s always an honor to be able to create custom coins for their different outposts. If you’re thinking about getting coins made for the Legion members in your life or community, you’ve come to the right place. With years of experience, we’re ready to help you create the best coins possible to showcase your appreciation to the brave men and women who continue to serve our nation even after their enlisted time has come to an end.
